Itinerary
We start our journey with a 10-hour drive from Haridwar to Govindghat, the beautiful scenery that accompanies you provides you a glimpse of four of the Panch Prayag which are five holy sites of the confluence of the river Ganga namely - Devprayag, Rudraprayag, Karnaprayag, and Nand Prayag. You'll note the sharp bends in the road and the valley getting deeper and deeper as you drive up along the Alaknanda River, you will reach our base camp at 1920 meters later in the evening. Have a delicious dinner and rest for the night to acclimatize.
Start your day off right with a beautiful sunrise and a filling breakfast! After that, we begin the ascent to Ghangaria, which is at a height of 2926 meters which takes about 7 hours. The first part of the journey to the holy Hem Kund is motorable and generally crowded with Sikh pilgrims. Throughout the day, the trek's landscape is a gentle incline. Until you cross the river, you'll be walking alongside it for the majority of the way. After that, the river would be concealed from view. Once we reach Ghangariya you can check in and explore around by yourself in the neighbourhood.
We will begin our trek to the Valley of Flowers after breakfast. The terrain is relatively simple, after a short walk you arrive at the Valley of Flowers National Park’s Gates. As you enter and cross a low-rise old bridge and the landscape suddenly changes as the valley opens up on one side, exposing a breathtaking vista of a seemingly endless expanse of flowers of all colors and types.
Start your descent back to the Ghangariya guest house once you have taken in the wholesome view.
Long day ahead, rise for an early breakfast and we will head out as early as possible for the Hemkund Sahib trek, located at an elevation of 4300 meters, this part of the trek is the only reason we call this a moderate trek.
Begin your climb up a steep path, and you’ll feel your breath go heavier and the air goes lighter do not worry it is all completely normal. Take breaks and keep drinking water, however, the breathtaking views will take your mind away from the struggle in a jiffy. Take in the serenity and tranquility that pervades the place, as well as the picturesque sight of the Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara alongside the lake, when you finally arrive at the Hemkund Sahib. It's a beautiful sight to behold, particularly when the rare Brahma Kamal appears every now and then!
Start your descent after a good rest, and after having lunch alongside the lake (Do not litter). Go easy on the descent, as the terrain remains the same as it was in the morning, Steep as stairs.
For the descent back to base camp get up early, and have your breakfast to a stomach full to the amazing view as this will be the last you see of it for now. The goal is to arrive early and safely so you can spend the evening exploring the local neighborhood. Rest for the night after having a good pahadi dinner.
